Naturopathic-Physician.com
Greetings, I am Doctor David G. Young, N.D, a licensed primary care, Naturopathic Doctor, in the states of Washington and Oregon in the USA. I began my private practice in January of 1993. This website is my own creation, with the assistance of our eldest son who understands HTML coding better than I. I began creating this website in 1998 as a nutritional reference guide, for the people of the free world who are too poor to afford medical help, but need to look something up. I became a doctor, because I witnessed, first hand, many people who became sick, sometimes very sick, sometimes died, all for lack of money. They could not afford to pay the allopathic doctors, and their costly hospitals, the extremely high costs of modern health care.
Regrettably, I also noticed that, as humans, we have certain “tolerance” levels. It is my primary focus in this life to have a wonderful marriage, and to assist others in trying to also achieve a wonderful marriage. While I considered marriage counseling as a career, I thought if I could offer a healthier lifestyle for the married couple, perhaps enhancing the quality of their time together and reduce the physical trials they may have, then perhaps I could help those others enhance their marriages through increased health. My greatest satisfaction in my style of medicine is when I find a couple where one has had a serious problem for years, and no significant help has ever been found. Yet, the healthier spouse has remained true and faithful to the sicker spouse all these years. Then, when the sicker spouse finally begins to feel better, it is like they have found a “second honeymoon”.
I used to offer my email address, and over the years, was emailed questions by lay people from almost every free country in this world. This became a huge burden on me. If someone really needs help, please call me instead. However, I prefer to work face-to-face. When I work face-to-face, I can see my patient’s countenance, and observe other valuable pieces of information, which usually prove helpful to me when I determine what is best for my patients.
My approach to medicine is different from standard medical practices. The “standards of care” of allopathic medicine, usually focuses on a single primary symptom, and usually only one organ system at a time. Then they treat that single symptom, rather than the cause. I prefer to look at the entire person, then treat the entire person as a whole. It is the belief of Naturopathic Medicine that the body possesses great inherent capabilities to heal itself, if given the proper tools, and the offending agents are identified and either avoided, or eliminated.
"Symptom free" does not mean disease free. Essential organ functions can be up to 90% failure, without any symptoms. “Ill health” does not occur overnight. It is an accumulation of years of buildup. This is why I emphasize a Nutritional Blood Analysis whenever appropriate.
I used to practice nutritional medicine by prescribing one natural substance for this, and another for that. I have since changed to a better system. For the past many years, I have been practicing a system of nutritional medicine where I order a very comprehensive blood test, and also a hair analysis. From these tests, and a very thorough face-to-face patient questionnaire, I then offer a precisely designed nutritional protocol, which takes everything that the blood and hair tests find, into consideration, then design a total nutritional program as one great whole. This change in focus is more in line with what the founding fathers of Alternative Care Doctors (roots of Naturopathic Medicine) had in mind, as early back as the mid 1800s.
I have also firmly grasped another science of medicine that also has its roots as far back as approximately 1910. Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM), eventually became the name of this old therapy, in modern language. This therapy, in its new format, was first taught to doctors in 1997, at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, in Portland Oregon, as a separate seminar for doctors, aside from regular naturopathic training. I attended this first class and have been specializing in FSM since that time. I have written a lot about this therapy in this website, found in my index under “microcurrent.” It is detailed, and has been used in continuing education seminars for professionals. The first part is geared more towards lay people and the larger, second part, towards the professionally minded. Doctor Robert J. Rowen, M.D. of “Second Opinion” has also been trained as a FSM practitioner, and has a lot of positive things to say about this new (old) therapy. He has even published a book called: “New Breakthroughs in Regenerative Medicine”, and lists all doctors who have been specifically trained in FSM therapy.
Another part of my practice protocols are identifying food allergies, environmental allergens, inhalant allergens, etc. There was an elderly woman in our church who waited for me to graduate from medical school, so I could run these tests on her. She was my first patient after graduation, and she did improve dramatically. She used to conduct music at our church with a countenance of a dull, grey colored skin, a dull personality, and conducted our hymns, “slowly”. After testing, and after avoidance of offending foods, her facial color became like a light bulb was placed under her skin, bright and full of color. She became happier. And our church music started to take on the proper tempo, not dragged out any longer. More information of this type of testing can be found under “allergies”, and “food allergies” in this website’s index.
I love to work with my hands. One of my specialties in medical school was minor surgery. I became so proficient at minor surgery, that the instructor had me perform a surgical procedure on her, while teaching her class at the same time. Working with my hands has allowed me to become very proficient at spinal manipulations, neuromuscular therapies, and Frequency Specific Microcurrent.
I really like teaching each patient, and their family members (if the patient allows), what I am doing, why I am doing it, and how it all fits together. Many of my patients come to me after they have exhausted all other medical avenues.
A bit of emphasis: If you are ever involved in a motor vehicle accident, seek out a FSM practitioner ASAP. Your healing will be greatly accelerated, and much more thorough. However, FSM also works very well in long term chronic pains that have been problematic for years.
It is my personal belief and attempt, to be kind enough to my patients, that many come back just to say HI. Or if I see them outside our clinic at any location, we will respond to each other the same way as long term friends respond to each other.
I welcome new patients with open arms, and will welcome you.
