Greetings, I am Dr. David G. Young, N.D, a licensed primary care, Naturopathic Doctor, with state issued licenses in both Washington and Oregon, USA. I also have a third medical license through the Pastoral Medical Association, which is national.
It has become necessary in the United States, starting in 2014, to protect our rights of total freedom of choice regarding medical information and care. The Pastoral Medical Association protects these rights. Effective in 2014, all medical care I provide will be under the license of the Pastoral Medical Association (PMA). If you desire medical care through this clinic, it will be necessary for you to apply for membership with the PMA as a Lay member. Lay membership is free for life. Lay members are those receiving medical care. Provider members are those giving medical care. I am a Provider member.

I began my medical practice in January 1993. I created this website in 1998 as a naturopathic medicine reference guide for the people of the free world who were/are too poor to afford conventional medical care, but would like to look something up. I became a doctor because I witnessed since childhood, many people who became sick and were denied medical care, all for lack of money. Then their marriages and families suffered the emotional trauma of chronic (never ending) health problems. I have also witnessed many times the massive and current abuse of the pharmaceutical medications of conventional medical (allopathic) medicine. Drug therapy has more negative side effects, than the reason the drugs were prescribed in the first place. First Do No Harm. This is the foundational principle of Naturopathic Medicine. There are always negative side effects with any drug therapy. Some are mild, some can kill you. Many deaths per year are linked to drug therapy. Vis Medicatrix Naturae is the Naturopathic motto meaning: The Healing Power of Nature. Naturopathic Medicine strives to avoid drug therapy as much as possible, in favor of restoring health naturally. Did you know that the best defense your body has to fight disease, is its very own immune system? Yet, drug therapy usually suppresses your natural immune system.
Regrettably, I also noticed that, as humans, we have certain tolerance levels. It is my primary focus in this life to have a wonderful marriage, and to assist others in trying to also achieve a wonderful marriage. While I considered marriage counseling as a career, I thought if I could offer a healthier lifestyle for the married couple, perhaps by enhancing the quality of their time together and reduce the physical trials they may have. Then perhaps I could help others enhance their marriages through increased health. My greatest satisfaction in my style of medicine is when I find a couple where one has had a serious problem for years and no significant help has ever been found. Yet, the healthier spouse has remained true and faithful to the sicker spouse all these years. Then, when the sicker spouse finally begins to feel better, it is like they have found a second honeymoon.
I used to offer my email address and over the years, was emailed questions by lay people from almost every free country in this world. This became a huge burden on me. If someone really needs help, please call me instead. However, I prefer to work face-to-face. When I work face-to-face, I can see my patients countenance, and observe other valuable pieces of information, which usually prove helpful to me when I determine what is best for my patients.
My approach to medicine is different from standard medical practices. The standards of care of allopathic medicine (conventional medicine), usually focuses on a single primary symptom, and usually only one organ system at a time. Then they treat that single symptom, rather than the cause. I prefer to look at the entire person, then treat the entire person as a whole. It is the belief of Naturopathic Medicine that the body possesses great inherent capabilities to heal itself, if given the proper tools and the offending agents are identified, and either avoided or eliminated.
"Symptom free" does not mean disease free. Essential organ functions can be up to 90% failure without any symptoms. Ill health does not occur overnight. It is an accumulation of years of buildup. This is why I emphasize a Nutritional Blood and Hair Analysis whenever appropriate. To fight disease, it is best to discover problems while those problems are still in their infancy. Then it is so much easier to regain your health to avoid serious diseases later on.
I used to practice nutritional medicine by prescribing one natural substance for this, and another for that. Since 2007 I changed to a better system. I have been practicing a system of nutritional medicine where I order a very comprehensive blood test and also a comprehensive hair analysis. From these tests, and a very thorough face-to-face patient questionnaire, I then offer a precisely designed nutritional protocol, which takes everything that the blood and hair tests find, into consideration. Then I design a total nutritional program as one great whole. This change in focus is more in line with what the founding fathers of Alternative Care Doctors (roots of Naturopathic Medicine) had in mind, as early back as the mid 1800s.
I am also specializing in another science of medicine, that also has its roots as far back as approximately the year 1910. Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM), eventually became the name of this old therapy, in modern language. This therapy, in its new format, was first taught to doctors in 1996 at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, in Portland Oregon, as a separate seminar for doctors, aside from regular naturopathic training. I attended this first class and have been specializing in FSM since that time. I have written a lot about this therapy in this website, found in the index under microcurrent. It is detailed, and has been used in continuing education seminars for doctors. The first part is geared more towards lay people and the larger, second part, towards the professionally minded.
Another specialty of my practice is identifying delayed reaction food allergies; defined as adverse reactions that occur 1 to 4 days after consumption of the offending foods. Food allergy reactions are frequently at the heart of many ailments, especially with children. More information of this type of testing can be found under allergies, and food allergies in this websites index.
The word doctor in Latin means teacher. I teach each patient what I am doing, why I am doing it, and how it all fits together. Many of my patients and their families remain good friends with us years after we treated them.
